The Favorite Song Theory

Have you ever noticed… you can still love a song even after you stop playing it every day.

You don’t hate it. You didn’t suddenly decide it was never good.

It just belonged to a different season of your life.

And sometimes hearing it again takes you right back to who you were when you loved it most.

I think people can be like that too.

Someone can once feel like your whole world and still not belong in the life you’re building now.

For a long time, I thought still missing someone meant some part of me still wanted them back.

Or that moving on meant I had to stop caring.

But maybe you can miss something without needing to return to it.

Outgrowing someone doesn’t mean you loved them wrong. It doesn’t mean what you had wasn’t real.

You don’t prove a song mattered by leaving it on repeat forever.

Sometimes it mattered because it found you at exactly the time you needed it.

Maybe some people are like that too. Not forever. Just important.

They can become part of your past without becoming a mistake.

You can stop replaying someone and still be grateful they were once your favorite song.
